Ndiass well
The project
In 2025, an old manual well, built in the 1990s, was converted into an automated system with a water tower, making it suitable for agricultural irrigation. The project was funded by the Associazione Antonio e Emilio Giaffreda.
- Thanks to this innovation, a one-hectare community garden has been established, providing a vital resource for local food security.
- The management and sustainability of the garden are guaranteed by the support of the Center for Territorial Development Promotion (a Senegalese entity), which ensures technical organization and daily monitoring of agricultural activities.
- The women of the community were trained in farming activities.

Toucoleur
Project
Toucoleur well
The project
In 2018, an old manual well built in the 1990s was transformed into an automated system powered by solar energy, making it suitable for agricultural irrigation. The well was created with the funding of the Antonio and Emilio Giaffreda Association. The conversion of the well included: the installation of a solar pump; four photovoltaic panels of 250 Wp each; two elevated tanks of 5,000 liters, for a total of 10,000 liters. In 2023, the system was converted into a château d’eau, a more efficient structure for water distribution. The well is used by the inhabitants of the villages of Toucoleur and Mbodjene.
- Thanks to the well, a one-hectare community garden has been established, providing a vital resource for local food security.
- The management and sustainability of the garden are guaranteed by the support of the Center for Territorial Development Promotion (a Senegalese entity), which ensures technical organization and daily monitoring of agricultural activities.
- The project generates carbon credits by eliminating the need to boil water for purification, replacing wood and fossil fuels with solar-powered safe water systems.
- The women of the community were trained in farming activities.

Louckouk Ndiaye
Project
Louckouk Ndiaye well
The project
In 2015, an old manual well built in the 1990s was transformed into an automated system powered by solar energy, making it suitable for agricultural irrigation. The well is part of the Armando Bondi project, created in memory of Armando Bondi, an EPS associate who was actively involved in solidarity projects in Senegal. In addition to this intervention, the project also involved the installation of 11 photovoltaic systems in other villages of the region, with the goal of promoting sustainable access to energy and water in rural areas. The conversion of the well included: the installation of a solar pump; four photovoltaic panels of 250 Wp each; two elevated tanks of 5,000 liters, for a total of 10,000 liters. In 2018, the system was converted into a château d’eau, a more efficient structure for water distribution. The well is used by the inhabitants of the villages of Louckouk Ndiaye and Louckouk Fall.

Dalakh well
The project

The well is part of the MorModou project, created in memory of Samb Modou and Diop Mor, two young Senegalese men killed in Florence on December 13, 2011. In addition to this intervention, the project also involved the installation of 11 photovoltaic systems in other villages of the region, with the goal of promoting sustainable access to energy and water in rural areas. In 2018, the system was converted into a château d’eau, a more efficient structure for water distribution. The well is used by the inhabitants of the villages of Dalakh 1, Dalakh 2 and Thiéppe.
