The project
In 2020, an old manual well, built in the 1990s, was transformed into an automated system with a water tower (château d’eau), making it suitable for agricultural irrigation. This intervention was carried out as part of the Acqua come vita project, promoted in collaboration with Acquifera Onlus and funded by the Tuscany Region.
- Thanks to this innovation, a one-hectare community garden was created, providing a vital resource for local food security.
- The management and sustainability of the garden are guaranteed by the support of the Center for Territorial Development Promotion (a Senegalese entity), which ensures technical organization and daily monitoring of agricultural activities.
- The women of the community were trained to carry out cultivation activities.
Grown in this garden:

Onions

Lettuce

Potatoes

Tomatoes

Eggplants

Okra

Peanuts
