The project
In 2012, an old manual well built in the 1990s was transformed into an automated system powered by solar energy, making it suitable for agricultural irrigation. The construction of the well included: the installation of a solar pump; four photovoltaic panels of 250 Wp each; two elevated tanks of 5,000 liters, for a total of 10,000 liters. In 2024, the system was converted into a château d’eau, a more efficient structure for water distribution.
- Thanks to this well, a one-hectare community garden has been established, providing a vital resource for local food security.
- The management and sustainability of the garden are guaranteed by the support of the Center for Territorial Development Promotion (a Senegalese entity), which ensures technical organization and daily monitoring of agricultural activities.
- Women of the community were trained in farming activities.
